Linda Kay Abernathy, 67, was called home on June 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Linda was born on November 6, 1953 in Millersburg, Ohio, and was raised since the age of 6 by her parents, the late James "Jim" and Edna "Eddie" Babb. She came to Pulaski as a student at Martin Methodist College. She fell in love with the south and after meeting her husband, Bill, decided to make Giles County her home forever more.

Linda and Bill have two children, Lindsey Honea (John) of Columbia, and Matthew Abernathy of Washington, who survive. Her greatest joy has been in the role of Mom, and then as Nana as grandchildren began arriving.

Linda's infectious smile and good humor endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had a strong love of Jesus and spent her life in service to others. Her generous spirit showed in everything Linda did. She served as a Sunday school teacher for 30 years and has been affectionately known as Ms. Linda by hundreds of children over the years. Linda has also helped various charities, the one dearest to her being the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

An avid reader, lover of games, and anything that provided laughter, Linda enjoyed life to its fullest. She did so along with her family and many friends. You knew she was having a good time, if laughter led to a "snort" and it's been a running joke with all that knew her. In the last few years, she and the "Faithful Fruitcakes" as they call themselves loved to go on small getaways and they always returned with some great stories.

Linda is also survived by her loving husband, William "Bill" Abernathy; brother John Babb (Robin) of North Carolina; sister Janet Miller of Ohio; brothers David Teeling and Bob Brown of Ohio; grandchildren Kylei, Savannah, Liam and Kayden Honea and Logan and Kassidy Abernathy; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Each and every loved one was her "favorite"; Linda just had to make sure the way she told you never took away from another "favorite." In this way and many others, Linda always made sure you knew how loved and special you were to her.

Others pre-deceasing Linda were siblings Donna Estes, Herb Babb, and Tommy Sheneman.

A celebration of life ceremony will take place at 2nd Street Church of Christ on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as Linda has faithfully done for years, or to the 2nd  Street Church of Christ Building Fund. Checks may be mailed to 300 N. Second Street, Pulaski, TN 38478.

Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements for Linda Kay Abernathy.
