 Ruthie Rae Haddock Laws, age 91, a resident of Leoma, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehabilitation Center.                 

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Leoma with Ronald Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Grove Cemetery in Ethridge. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Ruthie was born on August 19, 1929, in Lauderdale County, Alabama and was the daughter of the late William Edward Haddock “Captain Haddock” and the late Mattie Lee Dickey Haddock. She previously worked for the State of Tennessee under Greg O’Rear, as a key card punch operator for Cherokee Insurance Company, and at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was a devoted member of Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending. Ruthie was baptized at a young age under Irvin Waters at Chapel Grove Church in Summertown.

 

She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Tammy Wright) Barnett of Columbia, Pat Barnett of Summertown, Edward Barnett of Leoma, stepson, Terry Williams of Leoma, sister, Delphia Rawdon of Summertown, granddaughter, Liz Sears of Mt. Pleasant, great grandchildren, Mason Sears and Sara McKennon, step grandchild, Cody Williams, and several nieces and nephews.  

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Laws, and siblings, Dora Lee Hulen, Kay Haddock, Elphia Belew, Coolidge Haddock, Emitt Jason Haddock, Mary Elizabeth Haddock, and Lillian Ree Haddock.

 

Ruthie’s family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
