Sarah Elizabeth Faires Kennedy, age 100, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at NHC Healthcare of Scott in Lawrenceburg, TN.  She spent her early years in Wright, AL until her family was forced from their land by TVA.  Their farmland was flooded due to the building of Pickwick Dam.  They moved to the Flatwoods area in Lawrence County, TN in 1936.

 

She was baptized into Christ by Ira Lutts North at the Flatwoods Church of Christ.  She later attended Pulaski Street Church of Christ and was a member of Ethridge Church of Christ.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jones and Cora Morrow Faires; her husband, James "Jim" Dewitt Kennedy; one son, Jimmy Wesson Kennedy; four sisters, Ruth Wallace, Ruthanna Harris, Winona Irons, and Jewel South; one grandson, Jimmy Delowell Kennedy.

 

She is survived by one granddaughter, Tina R. Kennedy Slater (Brian) of Lawrenceburg, TN; one sister-in-law, Blanche Kennedy Collier; and 2 great-grandsons, Colten Slater and Wesson Tittle, both of Pulaski, TN.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Thursday, March 04, 2021, at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Thursday, March 04, 2021, with Larry Murdock officiating.  Interment will follow at Kidd Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN.  Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
