Kenneth Burgess, 99, of Benton Township died Thursday, September 02, 2021, at his home.

Services celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, Sept 10, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township with Rev. William Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. The visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday at the Fairplain Chapel. Please share messages or memories at www.florin.net.

Ken was born on July 2, 1922 in Minor Hill, TN to Razzie and Rella Burgess. He married his wife, Edith, in 1941 and she preceded him in death in 2000. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Ken retired from Auto Specialties in 1983 where he was a die setter. He was a long time member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. In his younger years Ken enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. One of his granddaughters said that he was the “Best Grandpa A Girl Could Ever Have”. Ken loved and cherished all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His family includes his daughter, Betty Jean (Calvin) Sayer of Benton Harbor; his brother, Millard Burgess of Prospect, TN; his sister, Willa Gattlin of Good Springs, TN; his 9 grandchildren and his 8 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Kenneth Charles Burgess and Billy Joyce Burgess; 1 grandchild, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
