Governor Bill Haslam was in Lawrenceburg yesterday for the groundbreaking ceremonies of the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center.

Plans call for the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center to have a total of 13 buildings on a 45-acre site.

Columbia State Community College, Tennessee Tech University, Middle Tennessee State University, Martin Methodist College, and the Tennessee College of Advanced Technology are involved in the new education center, and will be providing instructors as well as curriculum.

The first building is scheduled to be a 40,000-square-foot facility for college courses.

The second building will be housing Tennessee College of Advanced Technology programs.
