A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Maury County man on drug charges, and the seizure of methamphetamine.

Officials with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said Freeman Lamar Treat, 45, of Mt. Pleasant, is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance (meth) for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked license, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, as well as outstanding warrants for a probation violation.

Captain Adam Brewer of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said at the time of the traffic stop, deputies reported discovering 9 grams of methamphetamine (ICE) packed in three separate baggies, a loaded handgun, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia items.

Authorities said the meth was packaged for resale.

Brewer said Treat is being held at the Lawrence County Detention Center on a bond totaling $46,562.
