The Annual Leg Up Therapeutic Riding Center Picnic on the Grounds and Horse Show is set for Saturday, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., with the grounds opening at 8 a.m. This event is a chance for the students of the Center to show off their riding skills and for the Center to raise much-needed funds for their next big project, a covered arena.

Currently celebrating its 10th year of service to the community, the center was the brainchild of Director Becky McManus. A special education instructor for 19 years and an equestrienne for more than 30, McManus recognized the value of the combination of active learning and equestrian pursuits.

Through her work experience and her training with PATH, the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, she established a riding facility that has proven to provide a safe and enjoyable learning atmosphere for individuals with disabilities.
