A Hepatitis-A outbreak has hit Middle Tennessee with a total of 14 confirmed cases of acute Hepatitis-A.


The cases have been reported in Nashville and surrounding areas over the past five months, a dramatic increase compared to the average of two cases a year the area normally sees.


Officials said they were working with the Tennessee Department of Health on efforts to control the outbreak.


According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), those at greatest risk of exposure to Hepatitis-A in the current outbreaks include:


Illicit drug users, Men who have sexual contact with men, and Individuals who are homeless.
