STATE EDUCATION OFFICIALS ANNOUNCED TODAY THEY BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN "A DELIBERATE ATTACK" ON THE TN READY TESTING SYSTEM. ACCORDING TO MEDIA SOURCES, STUDENTS IN SOME DISTRICTS ACROSS TENNESSEE HAD ISSUES LOGGING INTO THE SYSTEM FOR TN READY TESTING ON MONDAY AND AGAIN THIS MORNING. TENNESSEE EDUCATION COMMISSIONER CANDICE MCQUEEN SENT AN EMAIL OUT THIS MORNING ADVISING OF THE ATTACK AND ADVISED THEY ARE CURRENTLY RESETTING THE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE ATTACKER MAY TAKE THESE SAME STEPS AGAIN AND THE DATA CENTER IS ACTIVELY WORKING ON FURTHER REINFORCEMENTS, INCLUDING NOTIFYING AUTHORITIES. TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE, NO STUDENT DATA HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. EDUCATION OFFICIALS ESTIMATE THAT 25,000 STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY LOG ON TO TAKE THEIR TEST TUESDAY MORNING BEFORE THE ISSUES BEGAN.
