FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW, EMANCIPATION DAY WILL DELAY THE TAX FILING DEADLINE FOR AMERICANS TO TUESDAY APRIL 17TH.  ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE, TAX DAY WILL FALL ON TUESDAY DUE TO THE 15TH BEING A SUNDAY AND MONDAY A HOLIDAY.  TENNESSEE POSTAL FACILITIES WILL BE OPEN REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS ON TUESDAY.  IN YEARS PAST THE POST OFFICES WOULD EXTEND HOURS TO MIDNIGHT ON TAX DAY BUT DUE TO AN INCREASE OF TAXPAYERS NOW USING ELECTRONIC FILING TO DELIVER THEIR FEDERAL AND STATE TAX RETURNS, THE NEED IS NOT THERE.  PLEASE REMEMBER MAIL MUST BE DEPOSITED BEFORE THE LAST COLLECTION TIME AT THE POST OFFICE ON APRIL 17TH TO RECEIVE AN APRIL 17TH POSTMARK.
