Tennessee’s seventh Safe Haven Baby Box is now open in Lawrenceburg.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes serve as a way for mothers to surrender their babies to authorities safely. Mothers can contact Safe Haven to alert them they’ve placed their baby inside the box for surrender and local authorities and child welfare agencies take care of the rest.

The Safe Haven Baby Box is located on east side of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department’s Station 1 at 233 West Gaines Street.

The Lawrence County and Lawrenceburg community and private donors made the project possible.

Since 2017, 49 infants have been safely and legally surrendered in a Baby Box. The National Safe Haven Crisis line has assisted with over 150 handoff surrenders.
