Tennessee Valley Authority recently announced a 4.5% increase to the rates it charges for energy. The TVA Board of Directors approved this increase as part of a $15 billion investment plan to ensure the region continues to benefit from affordable, reliable power by building additional generation and upgrading the existing system over the next three years.
In addition, TVA also announced it will be suspending the 2.5% pandemic relief credit it has extended since 2020.
The 4.5% TVA rate increase plus 2.5% from the terminated pandemic relief credit will result in a 7% increase that will go into effect October 1st, 2023.
