Lawrence County Schools are on high alert today (Monday) after threats of violence were reportedly made late last week.

Authorities say a shooting threat was made against EO Coffman Middle School in Lawrenceburg and other schools, and anonymous social media posts were made threatening violence.

According to authorities, those posts were made Friday afternoon and were untrue.

All comments made of violence toward Lawrence County Schools will be taken seriously with appropriate disciplinary action.

Lawrence County Schools requests adults with access to social media platforms contact school officials before posting inaccurate, misleading, and disturbing information regarding the schools or school system.

Lawrence County Schools are working to ensure faculty, staff, and students are safe.
