The temperatures are going to be climbing over the next few days with actual temperatures in the 100+ degree range and heat indexes even higher.

With that in mind, here are a few tips to help you stay healthy & cool.

Stay hydrated…The direct benefits of drinking enough water and fluids cannot be stressed enough.

Keep your fashion light and breezy…Wear loose-fitting and lightweight clothing, made with breathable fabrics like cotton.

Put on sunscreen…The importance of sunscreen as protection against the sun is never going to get old.

Avoid going outdoors in peak times…Avoid stepping out into the sun during its peak hours, especially without protection.

Limit your activity…Leave the intense workouts for early mornings or nights, and take it easy during the midday heat.

And don’t forget about the pets…Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh clean water, and make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun.

Know the symptoms of overheating in pets, which include excessive panting or difficulty breathing, increased heart and respiratory rate, drooling, mild weakness, stupor or even collapse. Symptoms can also include seizures, bloody diarrhea and vomiting.
