Ground was broken recently at the corner of Gargis Lane and Old Alabama 20 in Muscle Shoals for a new fire station which will help protect areas in the city’s growing southeast quadrant.

Create Architects has designed a building that fit seamlessly with the architecture of surrounding neighborhoods.

Brad Slater Construction of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, submitted the low bid of $3.15 million.  Construction is expected to take about nine months to complete.

The city ordered a fire truck for the new station in March 2022 and has hired six firefighters who will be assigned to the new station.

The new fire station will have two bays, living quarters for firefighters, a kitchen, a workout area, and reception area where they can take calls.
