Representatives of Fayetteville Public Utilities gathered for a check presentation from Tennessee’s Department of Economic and Community Development for the expansion of broadband to unserved and underserved areas in Lincoln County.

The grant, funded through the Tennessee Emergency Broadband Fund – American Rescue Plan was announced in September 2022 as part of an infrastructure project to assist Tennessee’s rapid population growth and increasing internet demands.

The project awarded $446 million to provide increased broadband access across 58 Tennessee counties.

Fayetteville Public Utilities was granted $8,899,590 in funding to supply broadband to unserved and underserved areas on the east side of the county. The three-year project, which includes the installation of 477 miles of fiber line, is slated to increase service across the county to 2,926 new address points.
