The Bill designating a portion of Duck River in Maury County as a Class II scenic river passed through the Tennessee House of Representatives Monday and is now heading to the governor's desk.

This comes after residents fought to keep the Duck River after a Louisiana-based company proposed two landfills on the river.

The Duck River is one of the state's most biologically diverse waterways.

Senator Joey Hensley and Representative Scott Cepicky introduced the bill in January to enforce environmental and conservational rules.

Now, the bill is enrolled and ready for signatures.
