According to the FBI, Americans lost $10.3 billion to cyber crime in 2022, up from $6.9 billion in 2021.

Tennessee victims lost $113.7 million, according to that same report.

Cyber crime is big business says a spokesman for the Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South.

Some tips to protect yourself include, look for a physical address on the website, ask for referrals that you can contact yourself, pay with a credit card where you have more protection, and never pay with a Cash App, Zelle or gift cards, inquire if the person or business is registered with reputable organization.

The more questions you ask, the more holes you're going to punch in misleading listings.
