In an update to an earlier story…

The largest-selling American whisky brand in the world, Jack Daniel had plans to build a new barrel warehouse or barrelhouse, in Lincoln County.

The plan was halted by a local court. The decree was issued in response to a lawsuit brought by Christi Long, a local who lives near the company’s barrelhouses, against the county, alleging that a black, sooty fungus known as whisky fungus, which is frequently found close to bakeries and distilleries worldwide, has spread uncontrollably and covered cars, homes, and trees.

Long and other locals requested Jack Daniel’s install an airfiltration system to address the issue, alleging that the county officials improperly approved licences for the warehouses.

According to authorities the firm now operates six barrelhouses in the area and was planning to construct a seventh on a piece of property that had room for one more before the court decision.
