The Tennessee Move Over Law requires motorists to move over into an adjacent lane of traffic, when safe to do so, or alternatively to slow down when approaching emergency vehicles, including recovery vehicles (tow trucks), highway maintenance vehicles, solid waste vehicles, or utility service vehicles.

A new bill being considered would more than double the fines for violating the law. For instance, on the third offense instead of $1,000, if the bill passes, you’d be paying $2,500.
