Each year, Duck River Electric Membership Corperation offers a writing contest to high school juniors that reside in a household served by Duck River Electric Membership Corperation.

Students who are home-schooled or attend a private school are also eligible to participate and will be grouped with the public school they would attend.

Visit youthtour.tnelectric.org for resources and materials are available to assist students with writing their stories for the competition.

There are a few rules you need to follow:

Only juniors in high school are eligible to participate. Every short story must be titled “Electric Cooperatives Connect.” Submissions must not exceed 900 words, and entries must be typewritten and double-spaced.

Remember, you’re writing a short story, which gives you more creative freedom than the rigid guidelines of an essay. Your story should be an entertaining, informative description of electric cooperatives.

All applications must be received by 2/17/23. Duck River Electric Membership Corperation’s Communications Specialist Connie Potts is available to assist. Contact her by calling 931-680-5881.
