A death investigation is underway in Ardmore after residents heard gunfire ring out in the Tennessee/Alabama border town.

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office says they're assisting the Ardmore Police Department with the death investigation that occurred at the Shell-Ouik Mart on Main Street.

Limestone County Coroner Mike West says a shooting led to the death investigation of one male victim.

Authorities say it's possible the shooting occurred following a robbery. The incident is under investigation.

Authorities also say there is no threat to the public.

Ardmore Police say the investigation has been turned over to the Limestone County’s Sheriff's Office.
