Leslee Kathryn Buhler Alexander, the wife of former Tennessee governor and U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander and a longtime family and children’s health advocate, has died at age 77.

Known as “Honey,” she was surrounded by her family when she died Saturday at her home outside of Maryville.

She was married to Lamar Alexander for 53 years.

Leslee Kathryn Buhler “Honey” Alexander will be remembered at a private graveside service for family members and at a memorial service to be held later at Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville.
