WEDNESDAY MORNING, TENNESSEE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SPEAKER CAMERON SEXTON AND REPRESENTATIVE CLAY DOGGETT VISITED THE WKSR STUDIO FOR A BONUS HOUR INTERVIEW. SEXTON AND DOGGETT OUTLINED SOME OF THE LEGISLATION THAT HAS PASSED IN RECENT SESSIONS, INCLUDING THE “TRUTH IN SENTENCING ACT” WHICH IS BUILT ON TOUGHER SENTENCING FOR VIOLENT OFFENDERS - AND SPOKE ON THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY INTERVENTION WITH TROUBLED YOUTHS BEFORE CRIMINAL ESCALATION AND HOW IMPROVEMENTS IN EDUCATION WILL LESSEN CRIME.  LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT STEPS, SPEAKER SEXTON, DOGGETT, AND OTHER ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE VISITING PULASKI TO JOIN LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT IN A ROUND-TABLE TYPE DISCUSSION AIMED AT COLLABORATING AND BETTER INFORMING NEW LEGISLATION ON WHAT CURRENT ISSUES LAW-ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS FACE. THIS LAW-ENFORCEMENT ROUND-TABLE IS ONE OF SEVERAL SIMILAR REGIONAL MEETINGS.
