THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RELEASED THE 2021-22 TENNESSEE COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (TCAP) DISTRICT-LEVEL RESULTS, FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF THE STATEWIDE RESULTS ON JUNE 14. THE DISTRICT-LEVEL TCAP RESULTS DEMONSTRATE THE INCREDIBLE EFFORTS MADE BY DISTRICTS, EDUCATORS, AND STUDENTS TO DEMONSTRATE STRONG ACADEMIC GROWTH OVER THE PAST SCHOOL YEAR,” SAID COMMISSIONER PENNY SCHWINN. THE STATEWIDE TCAP STUDENT PARTICIPATION RATE INCREASING FROM 95% LAST YEAR TO 98% IN THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR. STATE-LEVEL RESULTS FROM THE 2021-22 TCAP DEMONSTRATE GAINS WITH ELA PERFORMANCE LARGELY RETURNING TO PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS. MATH PROFICIENCY RATES ROSE UNIFORMLY AND SUBSTANTIALLY ACROSS THE STATE IN THE PAST YEAR WITH 91.8 PERCENT OF DISTRICTS IMPROVING. OUR DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS, DR. VICKIE BEARD, SAID, "ACROSS GILES COUNTY, WE HAVE SEEN THE BUY IN TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS, EDUCATORS, AND STUDENTS THROUGH THE STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS WE HAVE MADE TO SUPPORT ACADEMIC ACCELERATION AND ACHIEVEMENT… THESE ASSESSMENT RESULTS DEMONSTRATE THAT CONSISTENT AND FOCUSED WORK OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS HAVE MADE HUGE STRIDES IN OUR STUDENTS' PERFORMANCE." IN GILES COUNTY OVERALL PROFICIENCY ROSE TO 42% EXCEEDING THE STATE LEVEL OF 39% AND DRASTICALLY IMPROVING FROM THE PANDEMIC RELATED LOW OF 30%. OVERALL PARTICIPATION IN GILES COUNTY ROSE TO A 99% PARTICIPATION RATE. IN FACT, GILES COUNTY’S OVERALL PROFICIENCY AND PARTICIPATION NOT ONLY MET, BUT NOW EXCEED PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS IN MANY AREAS.
