Updated 12/01/2017

The final full moon of 2017 will occur this weekend.

The December full moon is known as the “Cold Moon” and it will be full on Sunday at 10:47 a.m. Saturday night the moon will appear full at about 99 percent to 100 percent right before sunrise.

The Supermoon will appear slightly bigger than a normal full moon, and it might appear to be significantly brighter than a full moon. If you miss this Supermoon, don't fret. There will be two full moons in January 2018, and both of them will be Supermoons. But January is one of the cloudier months, so the view might not be as clear as we are going to get this weekend. The Supermoons will occur January 1st before midnight and January 31st just after sunrise.

Also, the second full moon is extra special, as it is many times referred to as the “blue moon” being the second in a month.

There will also be a total lunar eclipse that day as well.
