The Martin Methodist Men and Women’s Soccer teams begin their respective conference tournament quarterfinals this weekend.
The RedHawk Men are on the road as the No. 6 seed in the eight-team tournament. They will face No. 3 seed Dalton State College. The match-up is a rematch of a tightly-contested regular season tilt that saw the RedHawks fall, 3-2, in double-overtime Oct. 14. The RedHawks held a lead on two occasions in the regular-season match-up, but dropped the heart-breaker in the second extra period.
Kickoff in Saturday’s contest is set for 4:30 p.m. CT in Dalton, Georgia.
And the nation’s No. 1 ranked Women’s Soccer team will be in action Saturday in Pulaski as the top-ranked RedHawks host eight-seeded Brewton-Parker in their quarterfinal match-up. The RedHawks defeated the Barons, 11-0, in a lopsided match-up at Grissom Pitch in early October. Junior forward Millene Cabral scored five goals in the regular-season meeting and senior forward Katie Reid added a pair. Sabrina Gonzalez, Miku Sunaga, Kate Wallace and Sarahevelyn Corlew also added goals that afternoon for the RedHawks.
The winner of Saturday’s contest advances to next week’s semifinal in Montgomery, Alabama. Kickoff time in Saturday’s contest is set for 1 p.m. at Grissom Pitch.
