Marine Major General J.S. Hartsel will be the guest speaker at Giles County's observance of Veteran's Day.

The public is invited to gather at the gazebo on the north side of the Giles County Courthouse a 11 a.m., Saturday. November 11th. All local veterans service organizations will take part in the program, says Giles County Veteran Service Officer Barry Alsup.

In addition to the program, scheduled to sing are Alyce Hendricks and Bobby Townsend.

Major General Hartsell enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1981 and has had a distinguished career in the military, which includes being activated during Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 and 2 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He is the recipient of several awards, including Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon with gold star and the Distinguished Pistol Badge.
