The Tennessee Highway Patrol will step up its safety efforts during the Fourth of July holiday period to help reduce serious injury and fatal crashes across the state.

THP District Captains will allocate manpower to areas where the likelihood of alcohol-related, serious injury or fatal crashes may occur during the Fourth of July period. State troopers will also conduct saturation patrols, sobriety and seat belt checkpoints to help keep citizens safe.

In Giles County, sobriety and safety belt roadside checkpoints will be conducted during the week of July 3rd.
Troopers will be on Highway 31 South around the 3 mile marker evaluating drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and take corrective actions for other violations observed.

THP also will be at the 14 mile marker on Highway 31 South targeting those who operate a vehicle without wearing seat belts, also taking corrective actions for other violations observed.
