Deputies with the Giles County Sheriff's Department will be set up in the pharmacy at Fred's Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., participating in the Drug Take Back event.
Anyone with unused or unwanted medications will have the opportunity to dispose of them by going by Fred's on West College Street.
Sheriff Kyle Helton said the event provides an opportunity for Giles Countians to help prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family members and friends, often taken from the home medicine cabinet.
If you are unable to attend the Drug Take Back event Saturday, the Sheriff’s office has a drug take back container in the lobby that is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Just bring your unwanted medication and drop it in the container in the lobby at 200 Thomas Gatlin Drive.
