A college scholarship fund has been created to honor one of the soldiers killed in an accident at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, earlier this month.
Private Ethan Shrader died after a military vehicle pulling a water trailer ran into a group of soldiers, according to an injured soldier's fundraising page. Pvt. Timothy Ashcraft was also killed.
The soldiers were in a troop formation at the time. The accident occurred Oct. 6.
Created on October 10, the Ethan Shrader Memorial Scholarship aims to keep Shrader's memory alive by raising money from now until December. The money will go to a student at Giles County High School, where Shrader attended high school.
The GoFundMe page states:
Ethan Shrader left a legacy that touched all of our lives. He was young happy vibrant soul that always offered help to anyone in need. He dreamed from a young age to join the Army to fight and protect our country. He died living his dream.
We want to keep his memory alive by establishing a College Scholarhsip fund in his honor. We will be raising money until December 2017, we will award a student(s) from Ethan's high school....Giles County High School.
