Agents from multiple jurisdictions joined in helping the Sheffield Police Department and the Colbert County Drug Task Force in rounding up more than 40 individuals on drug related charges.
According to the Times Daily, more than a dozen law enforcement agencies worked throughout the day attempting to locate 80 subjects who had arrest warrants issued for their arrest after a nine month investigation.
While all the cases originated in either Sheffield or Colbert County, many of the defendants lived in surrounding areas. By the end of the day, 42 warrants had been served.
The defendants ranged in ages from 18 to 62 and the charges ranged from unlawful possession of a controlled substance to unlawful distribution to trafficking.
Sheffield Police Chief Greg Ray had hoped that all 80 individuals would have been taken off the street, but was very pleased with the effort in apprehending more than 50 percent.
