The Here’s The Beef Festival, which begins Thursday, is providing opportunities for Giles County farmers to update their certification in the three areas of Advanced Master Beef Producer Class, Beef Quality Assurance Training and Private Applicator Pesticide Re-certification. Two Advanced Master Beef classes are being held in October but they both begin on Thursday, October 5th, the first night of the Here's The Beef Festival. One class will continue through Friday and Saturday while the other will be completed on the remaining Thursday nights in October.

Producers who need to get their B-Q-A certification should attend either the 4 p.m. session Thursday or the 11 a.m. session Friday, October 6th. Both sessions will be held at the Agri-Park.

All currently certified private pesticide applicators must get their updated certification completed by October 21st. Two sessions will be held Friday ... one at Giles County Co-op as a part of their Beef Producer Expo at 10 a.m. and the second at 4:30 p.m. at the Agri-Park. Cost to re-certify is $25 dollars.

In addition to these certification opportunities, producers can attend educational sessions Friday and Saturday at the Agri-Park. Friday sessions include Meat Cuts/Carcass Quality at 12:15 p.m., Risk Management at 2 p.m., and Forage Management at 3 p.m. Saturday’s session includes Beef Facilities and Handling at 9 am and Beef Marketing at 10 am.
