An early morning single vehicle accident on Highway 31 North, near Richland Elementary School, resulted in the driver being airlifted to Vanderbilt Trauma Center.

Just after 8 o'clock this morning, the 38-year-old female driver was traveling north on Highway 31 when her telephone rang. She attempted to answer but steered her vehicle into the southbound lane. She overcorrected and struck a utility pole.

Extrication was necessary to remove her from the vehicle.

The accident is under investigation.

Working the scene were Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper David Hill, Giles County EMS and AirEvac 9 out of Lewisburg.

Elkton Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle accident Wednesday on Interstate 65 near Exit 1.

The female driver of a Hyundai Sentra lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the median.

Marshall County EMS transported her to Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, Pulaski.
