The first Monday in September is the workingman's holiday dedicated to the backbone of the nation, the American worker. First celebrated in 1885, the nation again will celebrate Labor Day next Monday.

WKSR Radio 100.9 FM, 1420 AM has already compiled a list of government offices and businesses that will be closed Monday to observe Labor Day.

All city government offices and departments in Pulaski, Elkton, Lynnville, Minor Hill and Ardmore will be closed

Pulaski Street Department's Tim Johnson said Monday's garbage will be picked up Tuesday along with the normal routes.

All offices and departments in the Giles County Courthouse and Annex will be closed Monday.

Also, all Giles County schools, Pulaski Electric System offices and all area banking institutions will be closed Monday.
