Chances are you will encounter a hospitalist, or hospital medicine physician, as your attending physician if you are admitted to a hospital this year. Hospitalists are trained in internal medicine and pediatrics and care for patients during a hospital stay.

The role of a hospitalist is the subject of a seminar at Maury Regional Medical Center set for September 14th. The seminar will help individuals better understand what a hospitalist does.

The speaker will be Maury Regional Chief Medical Officer Chris Edwards, who will discuss, among other things, how the evolution of health care has led to specialists strictly devoted to inpatient care.
