A Pulaski man allegedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend Sunday morning, which led to his arrest and the victim transported to the hospital, according to a report from the Pulaski Police Department.

The PPD responded to a domestic altercation Sunday at 439 Jones Street in Pulaski, where James Edward Black, 61, was allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Deanna Brockhum, 49, using a hammer and a knife.

Brockhum's injuries were serious enough to have her taken to Southern TN Regional Health System, Pulaski.

Black was arrest for attempted First Degree Murder. No bond was set and he remains in the Giles County Jail. A July 11 court date has been scheduled in General Sessions Court, according to the Giles County Sheriff's Department website.
