The city of Minor Hill placed three community events on its calendar and approved road work projects at its Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting Monday.
The board unanimously agreed to allow the County Highway Department to do repairs to Gin, Peyton and White roads in the city for a cost to not exceed the $14,897 bid. Mayor Tracy Wilburn told the board the highway department would begin work on the project as soon as the bid is approved.
The city’s current events calendar now includes a Turkey Shoot at the city’s ag-park from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 23; Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, line up will be at the Community Building on Wray Branch Road beginning at 1 p.m.; and the city’s Community-wide Dinner at the Community Building Sunday, Dec. 15.
Librarian Marie Jones told the board the Minor Hill Public Library has been awarded a 50/50 grant for two new computers. Donations made to the library will cover the matching portion. She also noted the library will host a Book, Bake and Yard sale fund-raiser Saturday, Oct. 12.
