Election Commission Announces Republican Primary

The Giles County Election Commission has announced a County Republican Primary will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014.


The primary will be for the following offices: county executive, all seven districts of county commissioners, trustee, sheriff, register of deeds, and 22nd district judicial judges.


Interested participants may pick up their applications now at the election commission office and the qualifying deadline is noon on February 20. In addition, for the office of sheriff,  supporting documents must be completed and filed with P.O.S.T. 14 days prior to the qualifying deadline.


The nominees elected for the above offices will be on the August 7, 2014 County General ballot.


The February 20 qualifying deadline also applies for any independent candidates who wish to run in the August 7 election.


If anyone has any questions regarding the County Republican Primary and qualifying deadline, contact the Giles County Election Commission at 363-2424. They are located in the courthouse annex basement, 222 W. Madison Street.  The hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
